Warwick Payne spent a decade in newspapers and is former chief reporter of The Hampshire Chronicle. Winning regional and national awards, he cut his teeth writing university and travel guides and his debut book, The Portland Contract, was released by Olympia Publishers in 2013. This was followed by Always Maxed Out in 2015, The Frisco Spiders in 2017, Nash: A Motor Sport Memoir in 2019, No Truth Told Here in 2021, and The Pulteney Sanction in 2023, all with Create Space/Amazon Kindle Direct.

He left newspapers in 2012 on being offered a role in Southampton City Council’s cabinet, and served as Deputy Leader from 2015 to 2018. He now works in public relations handling major housing, infrastructure, and environmental schemes.

His interests include live music, cycling, cooking, craft beer, classic cars and motor sport including track days where he has driven Jaguars, Porsches, and Formula Renault racing cars.

He lives in Woolston, Southampton, with his wife, Louise, a senior press officer who is a former news and music journalist, and their daughter, Tabitha.
